Tategyoji Inari Shrine

更新日:2017年02月27日

This shrine is said to have been built eight hundred years ago. Then, due to a major Aizu-wide flood and subsequent plague, in 1536 it moved from around what is today Niitsuru Station to its present location.

Its current main building was rebuilt in 1936 with the donations of surrounding residents, believers, and others. On the shrine's grounds there is a Japanese cedar tree with a trunk that is four meters in girth, expressing the shrine's magnificence.

This shrine has become of the object of religious devotion of people from not only throughout Aizu but also the Echigo and Kanto area.
