Sekiyama Kannon

更新日:2017年02月27日

061-会津三十三観音第24番札所関山観音-スポット-0

This Sekiyama Kannon at Hinata-yama Nichirin-ji temple (Shingon sect) is the twenty-fourth of Aizu's thirty-three pilgrimage sites. While it is unclear who founded this temple, it is said that in former times its Kannon-do hall was located on flat ground, and then was moved to its current location in 1790 after making space for it in the side of the mountain. This eleven-faced Kannon, the temple's main object of worship, is usually not viewable by the public. However, it can be seen once a year on August 9th.
