Aikawa Kannon

更新日:2017年02月27日

059-会津三十三観音第22番札所相川観音-スポット-0

This Aikawa Kannon at Sorakubo-san Jifuku-ji temple (Soto sect) is the twenty-second of Aizu's thirty-three Kannon pilgrimage sites. Some say that this eleven-faced Kannon statue, the temple's main object of worship, was created by Kobo Daishi. It is also called “Ibo Kannon.” Legend has it that if one offers a tablet with a picture of an octopus on it that one will be able to remove warts (ibo). Still today people come to the temple to do so.
