Kanzan Gama Pottery Workshop

更新日:2017年02月27日

039-閑山窯-スポット-0

Established 275 years ago, this workshop has a long history. It is also unique in that it is located underground. It offers a diverse set of works, including ones made from celadon, white porcelain, and carbide. Special attention is paid to color, and its celadon pieces are popular with people of all types for their depth. The workshop offers a variety of pieces, from those that can be used on a daily basis to matcha teabowls as well as small teapots for people who are left-handed. Some of their teapots even feature hand-made tea strainers. Such exquisite works reflect the skills of this workshop's masters. They also make pieces with “Aizu Jigen”—Aizumisato's mascot—as a motif, which can be purchased at their shop. By making a reservation, you can also try hand-shaping your own pottery and making a piece on a potter's wheel. Why not try making your own creation at this unique underground workshop?
