Ryumon Yaki Pottery Workshop

更新日:2017年02月27日

036-流紋焼-スポット-1

This is the largest Aizu Hongo Pottery workshop. It was established in 1900. Its pieces are made in a kiln that has been heated to over one thousand degrees Celsius. Their glaze melts and runs, thereby forming a flowing pattern, or “ryumon'yo.” This is the source of the workshop's name.

Since the pattern changes depending on how the glaze melts, each piece is unique. Being one of the most famous kinds of Aizu Hongo pottery, they are sold at many souvenir shops. You can visit the workshop floor at any time during business hours. Just looking around is exciting. Be sure to stop by!
